I have had some really creepy things happen to me, but this was by far the creepiest. It happened about two years ago, spanning over three days. I’m not sure if this counts as a ghost story but it was something paranormal.
On the first night, I was woken up by the noise of a train whistle and the sound of it going down the tracks. The thing is I live nowhere near a train, but the noise was loud like it was right outside my house. I heard the train fade out and I fell back to sleep.
On the second night I was woken up again. This time by a knocking sound. At first I thought it was someone knocking on my bedroom door, but I realized it was coming from behind me. Something was knocking on the window. My bed is right next to it, but I was too scared to look out. I was really scared because my room is on the second story and there’s nothing around to hit up against the window. I remember hearing three more knocks before I fell asleep.
On the third night I was woken up again. This time by a noise that I don’t have the words to explain but I will try my best. It sounded like a combination of different sounds at first it sounded like a dog growling and scratching against something. Even though it sounded very animalistic there was something almost human about it. It sounded like it was talking or chanting something in a series of growl like noises. I woke up facing the wall with my back towards the source of the noise. When I sat up and turned around the noise stopped until I was fully looking out at my room. The room is never really dark because the lights from street shine through and I can usually see pretty well, but that night it was so dark that I couldn’t make anything out. But I could feel something turn to look at me and it said something in the same language. I froze and became very cold, not sure what to do I pulled the covers over my head and fell asleep.
One thing I thought was strange about this is that it normally takes me a long time to fall asleep, but after each event I fell right to sleep. I have also never heard that noise it made again but I have been looking for to see if anyone else has.
[Wow, what a creepy submission!]
Anyone have any recommendations?

Good question! I have certain traditions with a few of them. I don’t feel whole if I don’t get to watch Hocus Pocus, Beetlejuice or Halloween around the season. Of these, I would say Hocus Pocus is the one I most LOVE and require around the Halloween season. Beetlejuice I always watch with my friends after we go to the haunted attraction at the theme park nearby, so I associate it with the time of year. And Halloween I save for the season as well!
Random other ones I love for Halloweentime from my childhood include Halloweentown, Tower of Terror, and Under Wraps. Trick ‘r Treat I just recently saw for the first time (I know!) and will probably be rewatched each year too.
